Charles Hurst reports huge demand for new 2012 supermini
Posted on: 1st Aug 2012
Sales of the new Peugeot 208 have seen the supermini become one of the manufacturer’s bestsellers in 2012, despite only being available for just over a month, Charles Hurst announced today.
The 208 has made an impressive sales debut, with Charles Hurst forecasting sales of the new model to account for 40% of Peugeot’s July registrations.
The 208’s unique styling and innovative features, including a large 7” colour touch screen multimedia system, have helped drive a surge in demand for the new model. Peugeot customers are also benefitting from competitive finance deals, with the Access model starting at just £159 per month.
Ian McAllister from Charles Hurst Peugeot said: “Our customers have really taken to the new 208. We expect it to account for 40% of our July registrations and it has already proved to be a worthy successor to the 206 and 207.
“It’s a fantastic looking car with some cutting edge features, including an innovative touch screen multimedia system with MP3 connectivity. But it’s on the road where the 208 really scores and those who have taken a test drive haven’t been disappointed”
Sales of the new model have also been helped by an engaging ‘Let Your Body Drive’ YouTube campaign, which has received over 4 million hits to date. The campaign features one of music’s hottest dance properties, Marquese Scott, A.K.A ‘NonStop’.
The hatchback is available in three and five-door models, with five trim levels, starting at £9,995. The 208 is available with Peugeot’s all-new three-cylinder petrol engine or a low CO2 diesel engine. Both models offer low emissions.
The 208 will also soon be bringing a touch of class to the racing scene in Northern Ireland when the 208 R2 makes its debut at the Ulster Rally in August. Developed by the Peugeot Sport team, the 208 R2 will be driven by Craig Breen and Paul Nagle during the Ulster Rally, one of the test events ahead of the 208 R2’s official launch in November 2012.
